James Burden

Mr. James Burden was born on April 16, 1954 to the late Lewis and Gertha Burden.
James confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at County Line Baptist Church.
James graduated from Rebecca Comer Vocational High School in Comer, Alabama.
That's where he met and married the love of his life, Rosetta Tarver Burden, and they
were blessed with forty-eight wonderful years of marriage. To this union two children
were born.
James joined the United States Army and served his country faithfully for twenty-two
years until his retirement. He then worked and retired from the United States Postal
Service after twenty three years of loyal service. James enjoyed fishing, bar-b-ques,
gaming, and he really enjoyed and loved his family.
After a short illness, James understood the battle was not his, but the Lord's and
answered His call to rest on July 14, 2022, his devoted wife by his side in his final
moments.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Lewis and Gertha Burden; his mother
and father-in-law, Mattie Thomas and Israel Hill; along with his siblings, Davis, Cora,
Patricia, Lewis Jr, Mary Ann, and Eddie Joe.
James leaves behind to cherish and keep his memory, his lovingly devoted wife, Rosetta
Tarver Burden; son, Tyrus Burden of Austin, TX; daughter, Kenya Hunte (Anton) of
Barbados; four grandchildren, who were the sparkles of his life, Martes Woody,
Shatovia Woody, Kahari Burden, and Shania Burden; three brothers, Jessie Burden of
Tampa, FL, Daniel Burden and Willie C. Burden of Eufaula, AL, three sisters, Sarah
Lewis (Willie), Katie Jackson (Carlos), and Margie Burden, all of Montgomery, AL;
sisters-in-law, Eva Scott of Decatur, GA, Mary Jernigan (Daryel) of Stone Mountain,
GA, Artellis James (Rodney), Vinnie Shaw, Annie Jean Deloney (Joseph) of Fort
Mitchell, AL, Lucy James of Columbus, GA, Cynthia Hill of Eufaula, AL, Mary Pitts of
Buffalo, NY, Brenda Streeter of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law, Otis Tarver, Michael
Thomas, and Ellis Glover of Midway, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends.
