Jimmy Glenn Obituary

The hourglass has once again spilled its contents with the passing of our loved one, Jimmy "Zeke" Glenn. Zeke was born May 2, 1938 to the union of Joseph and Adell Bass Glenn in Eufaula, AL. At an early age he united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel McElroy. In later years he became a member of First African Baptist Church.
He was educated at Van Buren High School, where he graduated in 1956. He was president of his class as well as quarterback and captain of the football and basketball teams. After graduation , he served his country in the U. S. Air Force.
After completing his tour of duty he moved to Newark, NJ where he was employed with General Motors for many years. Upon his retirement he relocated to Eufaula, AL where he worked as a custodian with the Eufaula City School System.
He was an avid sports fan. He was a great supporter of the EHS football and basketball teams, evidenced by the fact that he followed them in town and out of town.
Zeke was a very reliable, kind, honest, caring, wise, thoughtful, humorous, and loving person who was full of life. He will be missed by those who knew him because he had a joke for everyone he met.
Two sons preceded him in death, Victor Baxter and Jeffery Maddox, both of Eufaula, AL. He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Renee Robinson and Sharon Robinson of Eufaula, AL. Three sons, Glen (Virginia) Glenn of Union, NI, Darnell Ward of Syracuse, NY and James Glenn of Lyons, NJ. One brother, Richard Glenn of Eufaula, AL. Two sisters, Elizabeth Wells and/Betty Glenn of Eufaula, AL. He has twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many special friends.
