Leonard Tate, 84, passed peacefully at his home in Eufaula on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
Leonard was born in Eufaula, AL on August 8, 1936 to the late Mr. Robert and Mrs. Carrie Bell Tate. After living the bulk of his adult years in Cincinnati, OH, Leonard returned to Eufaula after retiring from the Parks and Recreation Department of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Having professed his faith in Christ at a young age, he was a faithful and dedicated member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served as a senior deacon. Leonard loved the Lord and had an unwavering faith. He was a realist who loved life and his family. When he wasn't visiting his children and grandchildren, you'd find him at church or watching his westerns. With an ever-present smile on his face and a helping hand towards others, Leonard leaves a legacy of kindness and compassion that touched the lives of many during his lifetime.
He is loved and will be sadly missed by his daughter Alisa Roberson of Tallahassee, FL and son Eric (Candace) Tate of Bonaire, GA; two granddaughters, Brittany (jerrell) Jackson of Tallahassee, FL and Contessa Ellis of Warner Robins, GA; three grandsons Denzel Tate of Virginia Beach, VA, Brandon Roberson of Houston, TX and Christian Tate of Bonaire, GA; one great granddaughter, Mya Tate of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers Fred (Rose) Tate of Eufaula, AL, Lloyd Tate and Albert Tate of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Willie Ruth (Curtis) Burgess of Saginaw, MI, Geneva (Charles) Webster and Mary (Wayne) Mays of Cincinnati, OH and Lucy Mae Turner of Rochester, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
While we mourn Pops' transition from this world, many relatives await his arrival in Heaven; including his parents, three brothers, and five sisters
